SFTP Outage In Dallas Datacenter

We are currently experiencing an SFTP outage in our Dallas datacenter that is causing files to be inaccessible via SFTP.

All sites are up and functioning normally as this does not affect the site running itself, only access to site files via SFTP.

We are working on a fix and will update the status blog when this has been resolved.

Update (5:01 PM Central): Service has now been restored and SFTP is functioning normally again.

Slow Sites and Intermittent Downtime

We are experiencing an issue that is causing some sites on our system to load slowly and/or experience intermittent downtime.

We are working closely with Rackspace to figure out what is causing this and to restore performance back to normal.

Intermittent DDOS attacks at one of our data centers

Hi Everyone,

Over the past 72 hours, one of our data centers at Rackspace has been the target of a DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack. Due to this attack, some of our customer websites were affected as well. We are working with Rackspace to mitigate this issue.  Here is the latest communication from our contact at the NetSec team at Rackspace.

On 19 February 2014, at approximately 15:28 UTC / 09:28 CST, a portion of Rackspace customers may have encountered network related issues as a result of a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack targeted at an IP address within our infrastructure. The DDoS was identified by our network team, who resolved the issue at 15:31 UTC / 09:31 CST by null routing the target IP address. During this time, you may have experienced latency and or packet loss.

We apologize for any inconvenience this caused and appreciate your patience as we worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact a member of your support team.

RESOLVED: SFTP Service Currently Unavailable

We’re currently investigating an issue that’s impacting the availability of the SFTP service. This issue appears to be caused by a higher than normal number of connections to the system. We’re working to restore services as quickly as possible.

We’ll provide an update to this post when more information becomes available.

UPDATE 9:45am CST: At this time SFTP services have been restored. We’ve isolated the issue with connections to the system and put in new measures to monitor these and prevent further issue. If you’re still experiencing issues, or if you have any questions, please let us know.

RESOLVED – Slow/Unavailable Sites

We’re currently experiencing an issue that is causing some sites to load slowly or not at all. We’re working with our providers to diagnose the issue and restore service levels.

UPDATE 12:30PM CST: We’re still working to restore service to normal levels. While systems may be more stable, there continues to be higher than normal values on our monitoring that we’re still investigating.

UPDATE 2:30PM CST: Service levels have returned to normal and we’re not longer seeing any issues with the systems. We expect sites to be performing normally now, but if you’re still seeing issues, let us know.

Hybrid Cloud degradation/connectivity issues

As of 2:30AM on June 20, 2013 we’ve been noticing severely limited connectivity between our dedicated and cloud infrastructure. This is causing a majority of our websites to be inaccessible. We’re working with Rackspace to figure out what the issue is and how to fix it.

We currently believe this is a routine maintenance at Rackspace gone awry.

Update June 20, 2013 4:10 AM CST: We’re working with Rackspace to get 95% of our sites back online. We’re hoping to have 100% restoration by 6:00AM CST.

 

Hybrid Cloud Degradation

We’re seeing connectivity issues between our cloud network and our dedicated hardware at Rackspace. This is currently causing performance issues for sites, as well as intermittent complete unavailability. We’re working with Rackspace to get this corrected ASAP.

UPDATE 10:00AM CST: We’re seeing services start to return to normal, but we’re still monitoring some issues across the systems. We’re hopeful this will be resolved shortly and will update you shortly.

UPDATE 11:30AM CST: Systems have returned to normal and all affected sites should now be stable.

RESOLVED: SFTP and phpMyAdmin Issues

We’re currently aware of an issue impacting the availability of our SFTP and phpMyAdmin servers. We’ve been working with our provider to get this issue resolved.

The issue impacts the ability to access site files via SFTP and the ability to access a site’s database through phpMyAdmin (available in my.zippykid.com).

There is currently no impact on the availability or performance of sites, only these services are being impacted.

We’ll provide an update as we have more information.

UPDATE 3:30PM CST: Services have come back online and we’re seeing the SFTP/phpMyAdmin services back online. If you’re still seeing issues connecting, please contact the helpdesk.

Network Connectivity Issues

We’re currently experiencing some network connectivity issues between some of our hardware. This is causing sites to be unavailable or display database connectivity messages. We’re looking in to the issue now and working with our partners to identify the cause.

UPDATE 12:30pm CST: At this time we believe the network connectivity issues have subsided. We’re still investigating the cause of the issues, but things should be running normally at this time.
